Levi’s Champs-Élysées flagship new store design by REV Architecture

posted on 07/06/2012

Levi Strauss has commissioned to Cristiano Benzoni and Sophie Thuillier the new Champs-Élysées flagship store design in Paris.

With its 1000 m2, it is located at 78, avenue des Champs-Elysées, on the corner of the Galerie des Arcades. A prestigious unique theatre, both large and small, with urban friendliness and people’s enjoyment of life.

The new flagship Levi’s wants to be firstly a happening place, before being a store.
A place that offers its customers and the Champs Elysees something more than just trade: a dramatic and accessible place where you can walk, where you can stop and appreciate the views, open spaces, walking around a story and a brand.
A tribute to Levi’s wants to make this unique place a symbol of enjoyment of life on the Champs Elysees, one of the most prestigious avenues in the world.

With its new flagship store, Levi’s wants to tell its story, the history of jeans : a canvas, privileged icon of modernity spanning over 150 years.
The new retail concept store is based on the experience of travel and discovery, a «road trip» core to the heart of Levi’s.
The continuity of the promenade on the Champs Elysees and communication between the 3 levels of the store is solved by creating a large floor opening that makes distribution visible and fluid and «measures» the exceptional volume of the store.
A structural column, evidence of the existing building, features between the three levels in the store.
Two large scenographic spaces connect emotion to the expression of the brand, distributing a fluid movement between floors.

Each stage is defined by a particular theme that reveals a difference between each product, each collection and irresistibly invites the public to visit the legendary icons of the brand : Red Tab collection and made & crafted, LVC (Levi’s Vintage Clothing).
Each product area is created through a ‘manipulation’ of codes of the brand within the store space : the product looks for poetic harmony based on the links with space, materials, found objects…

Large wooden vertical supports measure the exceptional height of the interior volumes.
Against this background are predisposed a large number of given components allowing Levis full freedom to organize the visual merchandising and organization of product.
The interior of the store is looking to be a radical and basic support to show the identity of Levi’s.

Like denim, most materials chosen for the interiors are «sensitive» to unique and valuable traces such as wood, leather, metal.
The new iconic architecture of the store becomes the new primary medium of communication and expression for the brand.
Here a new Parisian story begins, shared by all, popular and unique, like the Levi’s jeans.

The new CANAL+ STORES by REV Architecture

posted on 14/12/2011

REV Architecture was chosen by the Canal+ Group to design its very first “premium stores” to welcome both the public and its customers. REV designed this original space around Canal +’s most leading products: its channels CANAL +, CANALSAT and CANALPLAY.

REV played with the iconic and basic graphic image of the Group and its decoder “Le Cube” to create a new architectural concept, offbeat and surprising in the same way as KUBRICK’s monolith.

A system of three-dimensional large pixels gives the new CANAL+ Stores their iconic and radical identity.
Each pixel integrates a specific task and is intended for the customers and the integration of the stores software; the contents wall, the experiments table, the off shoot products, the news desk of the “Grand Journal” etc.
Ergonomic solutions adapted to each content’s presentation characterize each pixel and spark the visitors curiosity.
Pull out flaps become the normal and intuitive interface to access the contents and the experimentation: a first in a store.

The space finds itself once again a gesture dimension.

Like this, zapping becomes a trip which not only shows but also reveals the long time experience of Canal+ at ones fingertips…
The front of the store is decidedly wide and is open to the outside to allow the architecture to call out to the visitors wishes from far thanks to a new iconic image and from near through the discovery of the contents.

The large shop window acts as a living theatre where the Channel news mixes and expresses itself: in this event, it does not only deal with video but a mix of forms of expression which must both show and stagger the news on Canal+.
Architecture, strategies and visual merchandising ( wonderfully conceived by the “Les marchands” agency ) clarify in a radical way the channel and the store identity so as to offer the public a visually different Canal+’s experience.

Place Victor Hugo residence, Paris 16éme

posted on 12/10/2011

This iconic 270 sqm apartment is located in the very prestigious 16eme arrondissement, in Paris.

Our aim was to inject modernity and the owner’s specific lifestyle by twisting the classic “haussmannien” original layout of the apartment.

We created a « sensitive » envelope around the transition wall separating the gallery from the rooms. The chosen material is a brushed tinted oak: a prestigious and classic mono-material which becomes a sensitive and technical skin.

This furniture feature element is 30 meters long, measuring the incredible length inside the apartment from Poincare Avenue to Place Victor Hugo.
It integrates different themes for each room, creating a precise geography of the owners’ life, passions and memories: an oversize see-through aquarium, pieces of art, a fireplace, a bar, a luxury leather bench, the kitchen/laboratory.
Some large in-built doors are also integrated into the furniture feature to accommodate the need for both privacy and interaction.

A one-off collection of freestanding furniture was designed by Cristiano Benzoni and manufactured by the finest craftsmen of Marzorati Ronchetti, Italy.

Our architectural approach in this project is not looking for a “style”. We want to define a «primary» expression for interiors: hidden rules create radical expression and precision. As in an F1 car, nothing is done for aesthetic reasons but it becomes aesthetic.

REV Architecture has been chosen to design the Masterplan and to realize the first 170 apartments of a social-housing development in Garbagnate, in the suburbs of Milan.
The site is located between Alfa Romeo’s historical industrial plant and the natural reserve of Parco delle Groane.

Joining the values of the Milan Expo 2015, social housing today is a good way to express architecture as a symbol of contemporary culture: specific trends in cultural, social, landscape and historical contexts are translated into global strategies to preserve the world we live in. Supporting this approach, the Italian public office for social housing (ALER) will be the final user of the project. Developer is Sile Costruzioni (for ALER), under general coordination of Tema Engineering, Milan.
The construction will start in may 2009
